The Duke and Duchess began their day at l'Abbaye Saint-Laurent in Liège, Belgium for the start of a day full of commemorative events. The ducal couple were greeted by their hosts King Philipe and Queen Mathilde. William and Kate were joined by other heads of state and foreign dignitaries for commemorations at the Cointe Inter-Allied Memorial. Several dignitaries gave speeches at the ceremony, including King Philippe, France's François Hollande, Germany's Joachim Gauck, and Prince William. William, Kate, and all the invited dignitaries had lunch at the Prince-Bishop's Palace. This concluded their time in Liège, and they then moved to Mons for an evening service at the St. Symphorien Military Cemetery.
