Kate's first official portrait was unveiled at the National Portrait Gallery on January 11th. Technically, this was a private event, and the Duchess, accompanied by William, was joined at the gallery by her family to meet the artist, Paul Emsley, and view the painting. The painting received mixed reviews, but Kate declared she was delighted with the finished product. This was the first time we saw her maroon Whistles dress fully, after she had worn it several times under coats.
