On their first appearance after announcing their engagement, William and Kate attended a gala performance and reception at the Thursford Christmas Spectacular. William was invited to the event that raised funds for young cancer patients by Emilie Van Cutsem, the chairman of the Teenage Cancer Trust's East Anglia volunteer committee.
