In February of 2011, Prince William was made Colonel of the Regiment of the Irish Guards, and the annual St. Patrick's Day parade has been a staple on the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's calendar ever since. Kate always discharges the traditional duty of the wife of the regiment colonel by presenting the shamrocks. The two toast the regiment over lunch in the Officers' Mess.
