George’s Christening

Prince George was christened at the Chapel Royal, St. James's Palace, in a satin and lace christening gown. The gown is an exact replica of a dress originally made in 1841 for Queen Victoria's eldest child, which has been used for royal babies since. That heirloom had become too fragile, and so this replica was carefully made by Angela Kelly, the Queen's dressmaker and personal assistant. Kate coordinated her own ensemble with her son's, asking Sarah Burton to customize one of McQueen's ruffle jackets. It isn't certain that this is not a dress, but given the structure, it seems more likely to be separates. George's godparents are: Oliver Baker, Emilia Jardine-Paterson, Earl Grosvenor, Jamie Lowther-Pinkerton, Julia Samuel, William van Cutsem and Zara Tindall.

Carole Middleton wore a coat by Catherine Walker, while Pippa Middleton picked an ensemble from Suzannah.
