Commonwealth Day Observance Service

The royals were marking Commonwealth Day. Commonwealth Day began as Empire Day in Canada in 1898, and spread to Britain and other parts of the empire in the following years. In 1958 Empire Day was changed to its current denomination and in 1975 a uniform date was adopted: the second Monday in March. Kate recycled a bespoke McQueen coat that had only been seen partially at Trooping the Colour in 2013. She debuted a new hat and earrings, and recycled Prada shoes and a clutch.
