Senior members of the royal family gathered for a service to commemorate the members of the armed forces who fought in the conflicts in Afghanistan. During the ceremony, the Archbishop of Canterbury blessed a cross made of shell-casings from a memorial at Camp Bastion, (a military base in Helmand Province, Afghanistan) and the Bishop of London led the Act of Commitment to the Common Good. Kate did not accompany William to the reception that followed.
